But since there are hundreds of similar posts, that is obviously not what I’m here to give you. You are in business to make money right?
So you need customers. People who see your posts that ends up converting into cha-ching!
Focus on the MOTIVATION behind your social media posts.
I want to let you in into a little secret. Behind these types of posts there are a secret. The REAL types of social media posts. Those that are focused on your customers or potential customers and their needs.
The 5 REAL types of posts:
VALUE POST
These posts brings value to your customers. It is the kind of posts that teaches your customers something that helps them solve at least in part, some of their problems (the ones that you are perfectly capable to solve for them!)
This is an educational post that can be in the form of an infographic, webinar, live streamed video or podcast. It adds value to them as a person or to their business.
VISIBILITY POST
This is the kind of post that shows them that you are a normal human being. You experience (at least some of) the same things in normal life than they do. Why is this important? It makes them feel like you totally understand them and since you’ve mastered XYZ, will have the answer to it. It makes you human. People like to relate to other people who experience or go through the same things as they do. It somehow makes life feel easier to handle. Behind the scenes posts is a typical example of these kinds of posts. It is usually unedited photos of a real life situation.
ENGAGEMENT POSTS
People love to express their opinions. They love to share how they feel about a specific topic. Polls and questions are perfect ways to keep people engaged. This is also an excellent way to find out what your audience would love to see more or less of.
MOTIVATIONAL POSTS
People are emotional beings and they like posts that make them feel. They react to posts that evoke either positive or negative emotions. Statistics shows that people respond better to posts that make them feel positive emotions. Therefore posts that motivate or encourage them, score high on the engagement monitor. Funny videos, gifs or pictures are also high up there. Make people smile. They will unknowingly thank you for that. Even if it is only by coming back for more!
PROMOTIONAL POSTS
I know that a lot of you don’t like to feel salesy. It somehow feels sleazy. But you shouldn’t. Remember that you are there to help people solve a specific problem they experience. No one has a problem with helping someone. This is sort of the same thing. Except that they thank you for your help by paying you.
If people don’t know what you have to offer, they don’t know how you can help them! So go ahead, tell the good people out there about your new product or course. Tell them about your new (or old) offering. They deserve to know how you can help them!
YOUR WINS
Show people your accomplishments. Be proud of who and what you are. Show them your client’s newly decorated room. Tell them about the customer you’ve coached who reached a new high in her business. Tell them about the record number of sales you’ve had.
It shows them that you are doing something right. Something that they might want to be a part of. Something that just might convert them into your next customer!
So now you have the whole secret. Not only the type of post in terms of how it should “look”, but also the underlying type. The message or motivation that is behind each and every post.
Remember this. No post should just be random. It should always in one way or another drive back to your core business. It should highlight your unique selling propositions and add value to your customers. Setting goals for your social media is equally important. You can read more about that here.
Until next time!
