The hidden advantages of Pinterest

Hidden advantages of Pinterest

You probably are already on Pinterest right?

NOT?!?

You definitely should be if you are a blogger or an entrepreneur.

For years I’ve been collecting inspiring ideas on the internet that floated around in all different nooks and corners of my computer.

I should have come up with the idea of Pinterest decades ago!! (Why didn’t I? I could have been retired and living on a luxury island by now!)

Ok, so I didn’t, but Pinterest still came along and changed my life for the better.

I will admit. I’m a visual hoarder! I love visually inspiring ideas and collect them on all and any topic I’m interested in.

So you might wonder why you need to use Pinterest for your business.

Pinterest is one of the largest drivers of web traffic in the world! It is even about three times more effective to drive traffic and generate leads than Twitter.

Despite the obvious reason, lets take a closer look at the advantages a business Pinterest page can have for you.

Advantages of Pinterest

Research your audience

When you late a look at the people who follow you, you will not only be able to see their demographic information, but by looking at their own profiles, you will be able to see what else inspires them. You would be able to find common denominators, giving you new angles and information to use when talking or marketing to them. You might even be surprise to find that there is a market of people you appeal to, that you didn’t even realize would be interested in what you have to offer!

A great driver of traffic

No matter if you have a blog, business website or etsy store. Pinterest is an awesome way to link back directly to your business, increasing your web traffic tremendously. The super plus side of this, is that it’s an audience that is already interested in what you have to offer. It is therefore important that the images you pin should be of high quality and eye catching.

Personal planning

With the advantage of making a board secret, you as business owner and entrepreneur can create boards that is not visible to anyone else but you. Here you can collect ideas for new products, marketing ideas, and blog ideas or even for social media planning. Secret board is also a wonderful way to populate a board for example for a new product or service, before making a public. After all, nobody want to look at a board with only one or two images in it!

Showcasing your work

Since Pinterest is primarily a visual platform, it is a wonderful place to showcase new (or existing) products or services your business offers. You can also use it to share some behind the scenes images of your process or work place. Because every image has a back link, you can automatically link it back to your own site.

Marketing research

You can add multiple different pinnable images per blog post by hiding them. This gives you the opportunity to test out different layouts, images and headers for the same topic. You will be able to see the performance of each post to determine your audiences’ preference, making it possible to fine tune it for maximum viewing and also potential customers to your blog or web!

Helping you to get organized?

What?!!?
Yes, I know it sounds a bit off topic and unconventional, but it can. You remember I said you should have Pinterest if you’re a mompreneur? Well, being a mompreneur means you are not only a business owner, but also a mom. Helping your thoughts being organized as a mom ultimately helps you to focus better as an entrepreneur. By using a personal account or just secret boards, you will be able to search for ideas for dinner, the living room that needs decorating or even your munchkin’s next birthday party.

Leaving your mind clear to focus when you need to be present at your business.

Pinning these ideas will clear your head that ultimately keeps thinking about this in the background.

So Pinterest is at last more than just a (bunch of) pretty picture(s).

Using it has so many advantages for your business in terms of exposure and driving traffic to your sales pages. It is a wonderful platform where you can do market testing, find new potential client streams and even expansion ideas.

There is a lot more you can learn about Pinterest for your business, but more about that another time!

Until next time!
